Surrounding Area

Kyrenia, ’the jewel of cyprus’ with it’s tiny horseshoe shaped harbour, against a backdrop of the Besparmek Mountains, is a fifteen minute drive away ; All around the harbour are carob warehouses now converted to restaurants, cafes and bars stretching out onto jetties over the water. The harbour is full of fishing boats, yachts and excursion boats. This is a delightful spot to while away a few relaxed hours.

Around the spectacular Bellapais ‘Abbey of beautiful peace’ has sprung up a delightful village. Bellapais was immortalised by Laurence Durrell in his book “Bitter Lemons” and featured on TV by Judith Chalmers. Wining and dining here is a must do! Music festivals and concerts of all kinds are held here from time to time. Beaches and Coves are strung out all along the coast - have fun exploring and take your pick.

The capital Nicosia is just 30 minutes away with shops, markets and lots of places to eat, all quite unsophisticated. Areas of this city, unspoilt and undeveloped are being tastefully restored with international funding.

Famagusta is just an hour away Further away to the East of Famagusta is the Karpas Peninsula known as the panhandle, look at the map! miles and miles of deserted golden sand, truly unspoilt. The most delightful thing about Northern Cyprus is its people who are kind and friendly
